How these 2026 Jerseys were Designed
The 2022 jerseys were not well received. Players said they did not feel represented.
So Nike started over. Beginning in 2023 they ran a three year design process called DIG (Discover, Ideate, Go) that included workshops and listening sessions with USMNT players. Tyler Adams, Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie and others had direct input on everything from fabric weight to seam placement.
Adams later told The Athletic: “We literally picked everything. I feel like we had more say than Nike had in it, to be honest with you.”
The brief was simple. Stars and stripes, because that is the US. The home got the stripes. The away got the stars. For the first time both jerseys share a bespoke font that ties the two together as a set. The stripes jersey uses a stars font for the name and number. The stars jersey uses a stripes font.
Nike also added a hidden detail inside each jersey. An inner pride logo meant to represent each player’s personal reason for wearing the crest.
The Home Jersey
Red and white stripes wave across the chest like the American flag caught in the wind. Navy collar and sleeves finish it off. In a packed supporter section when the anthem starts, this is the one you want to be wearing.
The Away Jersey
Clean, sharp, and built for big moments. All navy with dark stars covering the whole shirt. Subtle until you look close, then you see the stasr everywhere. One of the sharper away jerseys the national team has worn.
